french gcse helpppp

so im doing my gcse for french in 2026 (I'm in y10) and this year edexcel has changed the way the exams are . idrc about all the other changes but one of them is dictation. so basically they will read a sentence in french that you've never heard before to see how good you are at spelling . i think this is so unfair and hard bc if ur not native it will be so tricky considering all the accents and stuff . since my year is the 1st year doing it there isn't much info online so could someone suggest a way too revise for this??

Ensure you know the sounds of letters (like é, ç etc) and letter combinations (i.e. oi for example). Then try listening to short clips, that are topic related and have a go at writing the answers a sentence at a time. It will be hard at first, but check what you wrote with the actual transcript and learn from your errors. Practising will help, but knowing the sounds first will help more. Check out The Ideal Teacher Language School on YouTube and the playlist: 'NEW GCSE French Exams (2026 onwards) - Teaching & Learning Materials to Help Teachers & Students' the newest clips (1-2 minutes) with a blue background will help, as well as the pronunciation tips.

It might be a sentence you've never heard before; but the words will be words you should have covered in the course.

And for what it's worth "being native" doesn't necessarily mean you can spell!
