Oxford Brooks or Nottingham Trent for journalsim?

Hi, I am studying journalism and I wanted to go to the best uni I can.

I'm considering both of these options but I’m stuck on which one would be best for media journalism.

I've done my digging and some say Oxford Brookes is better and others say Nottingham Trent, I just want to be able to go to the best one that offers me an NCTJ.

Is there anyone that can help?
Hi,

It's great to hear you're interested in studying at NTU!

Not only is our Journalism BA accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists, we are also recognized by the European Journalism Training Association and part of the BAFTA Albert Education Partnership.

NTU has been recently ranked 1st in the UK for Employability (University Compare 2025) and throughout and following your studies you'll have access to our expert team.

You can also explore our Centre for Broadcasting & Journalism facilities, as well as visit at our Upcoming Open days and events.

I hope this helps in making your decision, remember that UCAS allows you to apply for up to 5 courses, and you will have plenty of time to make your Firm and Insurance choices this coming spring. Let us know if there's any further information we can provide!

I would probs say Brooke’s is better just because of the overall prestige and because Oxford Brookes is often considered better for Journalism than NTU due to its strong industry connections and focus on practical experience. The university offers excellent facilities, such as well-equipped newsrooms and digital media labs, and provides plenty of opportunities for work placements with top media organizations. This hands-on experience helps students build the skills needed to succeed in the media industry. While NTU also has a good reputation, Oxford Brookes is particularly known for its strong emphasis on employability and its track record of producing successful graduates. Brooke’s is also top 20 for Journalism… also ranked 150th in the world for comms and media… Hope this helps.

I looked at Brookes the other day and it is very good for journalism. Great professors and vibe and also has a huge new building with tv rooms coming very soon (should definitely be there for 25 start). Only thing worth noting is that the NCTJ is taken separately on the side instead of being embedded in the course!
