Hi there,
Those are some great options already. I've heard Edinburgh is a good place for mountain biking, have you looked into this? We also have a range of trails only a short distance from Chester, and we aren't far from North Wales, so this might be something to look into as well!
I'd also recommend looking at the sports and societies a university offers (search for the Student Union website), as they might have a student-run club for mountain biking. There might be local clubs too, which you can hopefully find with a quick search!

Thank you.
We live on the edge of Chester so spoilt in terms of the forest trails and North Wales close by.
My son is only in year 12 so got time to explore and research areas.
We did have a look at the last BuCS downhill results to see what uni had teams.

Great to hear you're into mountain biking, Swansea’s a fantastic place for it! 🚵*♂️
Our Mountain Bike Club is super welcoming and caters to all abilities, whether you're just starting out or racing at a high level. They run two weekly rides (Wednesdays and Sundays) at local trails and amazing spots like Bike Park Wales and BMCC. There’s even an annual week-long trip to places like North Wales or Morzine! 🌄
No bike? No worries, they’ve got a rental bike available for just £5/day for members.
