Is St Mary’s College more working class?

Hey, just wondering if St Mary’s has a higher intake of working class students than other historical colleges?

I know it’s a hill college, but I’ve heard many of the nicer builds house a lot of prep school students.

Hiya,

St Mary's is a great college that has a good mix of students from all backgrounds. Colleges are generally quite diverse and have a good mix of students in order to enrich the student experience, that being said I can understand how certain reputations/stereotypes may intimate prospective students 🙂 It may be a good idea to attend an open day if you can to get a better feel for Durham and the different colleges, you'll get the opportunity to meet students as well as tour colleges you're interested in.

Still, if you can't make it to an open day, there are a range of different resources online you can have a look at. The Durham student recently started a podcast where we discuss different topics related to Durham such as the collegiate system, societies, Durham stereotypes, etc if you'd like to check that out for more info. You can find the link on here The Durham Student

I hope this helps and let me know if I could help with anything else!
