Completing psychology degree in Australia

Hi,

I am currently completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminology degree in Australia. I was wondering if that degree would be recognised in the UK and if I would be able to be a counsellor straight away or do I need a conversion or masters course. I would be coming straight out of University back to the UK. I would love some advice please.

Thank you,
Tj

I highly doubt you will be able to be a Counsellor with this degree. Counsellors generally do 2 to 3 years of practical training and theory, something that is generally unrelated to psychology training. If you want to be a Counsellor you need to do Counselling training not a Psychology degree.

As someone who has worked in both countries, you cannot work in the UK or aus, as a counsellor without counselling training. They are two very separate trainings, and even more so in Australia
