Interior design, architecture

Hi
How many days do you have to go in person to university classes as I will be commuting I was hoping I could do majority of course work, study online, at home and go into university a couple of days per week, I will be hopefully studying interior design, or combined architecture, interior design at Sheffield, derby, Huddersfield
Thank you

Hi @Cherry+blossom

As an example, here at BCU most design courses will have timetabled 1-3 days a week, though this can change per course, and at different times throughout the year.

I study Fashion Design and I have two days timer ales at the moment, 10 am - 5pm, but some of this is individual study time too. One of my other friends is only in 1 day taught timetabled sessions at the moment.

It can also differ per university too. No matter how many days or timetabled sessions I have, I usually like to have a 4/5 day uni timetable that I structure myself. For example, two days taught sessions, then roughly 2-3 days where I treat my coursework like a full time job and will try to make the most of the uni workspaces. And then I'll have two days 'off' in the week where I'll probably go to my part time job or try to have some downtime.

It might take a bit of trial and error to see how best to utilise your timetable when you get started, but hopefully this gives you a rough idea of what to expect. And like I say, other unis may differ but from experience, this is what I've noticed for most courses. Hopefully some Architecture or Interior Design students can give you some more insight too!

Hope this helps. 🙂

You can ask for a copy of the current timetable from most unis to see what a typical week looks like. SHU has an enquiry form for the course if you click on 'Ask a question':

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my question. It's reassuring to hear of your experience of the timetable and that there are some free days to study away from campus. This was was really helpful thank you
