Redo an A level

I am currently really struggling in A level maths. But my two other subjects history and economics I am predicted As, whilst in maths I am predicted a C, but that was a generous prediction. Since it is too late to switch and I think I will probably receive results of AAC, could I take a gap year and take A level politics. Would this be acceptable as I hope to study history at a Russel Group Uni?

Hey @Kingdragon

It’s great that you’re planning ahead and thinking through your options. Many students take a gap year to improve their grades. Adding A-level Politics could actually strengthen your application, especially if you’re aiming for a history degree, as it’s relevant and demonstrates a continued commitment to your studies. Also contact the Russel Group university admissions department and explain your situation and show how the potential extra year will allow you to pursue subjects you’re passionate about and improve academically, it should reflect positively on your application. All the best!!
