Student finance and national insurance number

Hi,

I applied for student finance - its been approved and it was awaiting confirmation of my national insurance number and my registration at the university. I had a text stating I will be paid as the uni confirmed my registration and I have recieved a payment - however since recieving the payment I have recieved a letter stating my national insurance number has failed 2 checks - I thought money could not be released until both the national insurance and registration check was complete? Can some one please help

Hi there. We can release your first payment without the National Insurance Number (NINO) being validated. After that they will be blocked if we are unable to validate the NINO. You would need to compplete the form you have and return this with evidence of your NINO. Thanks, Leah.

Omg, I've just found my national insurance card and it's a day out of my date of birth - this would prob be the reason as to why it's not confirming it. How am I going to go about this please as if I change the date of birth on it will it affect other things? I'm so confused

My date of birth is originally 19/03/87 that's what my birth certificate states. However, my mum told me that I was born the 19th same month same year - the 19th is the date that the national insurance is in but my student finance is in the 18th with the correct details. I'm panicking tho that if I change the national insurance date of birth then it will mess some other things up for ne as I've noticed I used it for child benefit and other things - however it's only a day out🙈

18 I mean is original date of birth - omg typed it wrong but national insurance is in the 19th

I applied for student finance and got approved but I just need my national insurance but I had to apply for a new one due to changing my name but it’s telling me it could take 4 weeks to hear back. I have a payment from 23rd Sept still waiting to process. How do I go about fixing this?

Have you given us your old National Insurance Number, or did you just leave that blank when you applied?
