Should I ask for a higher predicted grade?

The course I'm applying to at durham wants A*AA and doesn't consider EPQ.
So far I'm being Predicted AAA with an A in EPQ
I'm eligible for a contextual offer because of my area having a low progression to uni and being state schooled.
I am hoping to get an A* in one of my subjects, will I have a better chance of being given an offer if I can get my predicted grade raised to an A* even if I should get a contextual offer?

You say "durham wants A*AA", but don't make it clear if that's their standard offer or contextual offer. Do you're predicted grades meet the contextual requirements?

You ask, "will I have a better chance of being given an offer if I can get my predicted grade raised to an A*". Yes. Better grades (or better predicted grades) will almost always increase the likelihood of receiving an offer.

A*AA is their standard offer, they don't say how low the contextual offer is, but I've heard its quite a few grades lower from what other people online have said and I thought one lower grade would definitely be within that, but didn't know if meeting the regular offer even if I don't know if I'll achieve that in the actual exams will help me x

If you receive a contextual offer, then it's the grades in that offer you'll need to meet. Exceeding your offers grades doesn't help or hinder you.

However, the above assumes you receive an offer. The better your predicted grades are (relative to the standard or contextual offer, as applicable), then the better chance of receiving an offer.
If you are really confident you can achieve a higher grade than predicted, talk to your subject teacher. I asked for my predicted A in Biology to be raised to A*. I explained that I work best under pressure (which is true), I exceeded predicted grades at GCSE and in my EPQ. My teacher said he would set me a test and if I achieved A* he would raise it.
Up to then my test results had been 50/50 A/A* so he admitted i was on the cusp.
I got the A* in the test and in my actual A'Level exam. (I also got the offer I wanted from Durham).
Definitely worth asking though sounds like you would get a contextual offer anyway.
