if you know anyone in uni sometimes it's best to ask around there. obviously they won't have the teaching qualifications but they are wayyy cheaper. I had 2 med students tutor me for chem for £12 ph and my grades went from a low B to an A so it can make a difference!

Ohh Why do you say ?

Because, like the previous post, some users simply advertise (rather than recommend) tutoring and you have little idea of what theyre advertising.

What problems are you having with maths?

You have no idea who people really are. Have you asked your teachers for help?

Ohk I’ll look out then . I have asked my teachers and they’re doing the best they can which I appreciate but I still feel like I need a bit of extra support.

I got a six I’m my GCSE which is like the lowest in my Alevel class and I feel like I lack some foundations . I struggle quite a lot with complex problem solving and graphs.

At a level there certainly are some core gcse topics which they assume you know well. However, there are also a reasonble number of "bridging gcse to a level" booklets/videos/.... such as
https://alevelmathsrevision.com/bridging-the-gap/
https://www.bournside.gloucs.sch.uk/assets/Maths-Task-1.pdf
so google something like
bridging maths gcse a level
and pick a couple of ones you think are relevant/cover stuff youre weaker on and crack on with them. Ideally with a 6, you should have done them over the summer, but better late than never. You can just work through them and discuss some of the stuff on here (maybe start a gyg and reflect in there) / grab a mate and discuss over coffee at school / ... A tutor can help, though its not necessary, but set yourself a deadline of ~christmas to get the foundations in place. Try and do a bit "every night".

For problem solving, it partially depends on what you mean by it, but the previous stuff will largely cover the tools you need to solve problems and if you understand them well thats generally enough. Though there are some good habits (problem solving) stuff to get into like sketching stuff, validation, simplifying problems, subbing numbers, etc. Mostly its of some use at a level, but the first 2 or 3 previously mentioned are just good practice.

Edexcel produced some bridging resources.

https://www.pearson.com/en-gb/schools/subject-resources/mathematics/unrivalled-support/support-from-pearson/gcse-maths-transition-to-a-level.html

If you are doing Edexcel I can point to good resources.

Those bridging resources would still be OK as the pure content is common to all boards.

AQA material here: https://mmerevise.co.uk/a-level-maths-revision/ [only the free stuff]

hi, I achieved 10 A*s at gcse, and achieved A* in bio and chem at alevel. Biology subject champion in y12 and chemchampion in y13. I currently have a discount on fees closer to exams + have a few spaces for online tutoring, please dm if interested!
