How do I deal with this?

My 11 year old brother is severely autistic and has suffered from epilepsy since the age of 4 as well as various other health problems. We have all been told that it is very unlikely he will reach adulthood and his seizures are becoming more and more frequent and they really upset me when they happen what can I do?

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. It sounds incredibly tough to watch your brother struggle and feel so helpless. Your feelings are totally valid, and it makes sense that seeing him have seizures is upsetting. Taking care of a sibling with such complex needs is a huge emotional burden, and it's normal to feel overwhelmed by it all.

You might consider talking to someone about what you're feeling whether that’s a trusted family member, a counciler, or even a support group. Sometimes, just having a safe space to let out your thoughts and emotions can make a difference. Maybe look into resources for siblings of kids with severe health challenges; some organisations offer support specifically for family members in situations like yours.

Finally, remember to take time for yourself. You’re doing your best, and it’s okay to feel a range of emotions. Taking care of your mental and emotional health isn’t just important for you; it helps you be there for your brother and your family. You’re not alone in this, and there are people who want to support you.
