What a levels should i take for medicine?

Hi, I'm currently in year 11 and I want to study medicine at uni. Sixth-form deadlines are coming up and I would like to apply to do Biology and Chemistry because I enjoy them both, however, I'm not sure what my third option should be. Right now it's 50-50 between Geography and Maths (averaging a grade 9 for geography and a 7 for maths). I enjoy maths as a subject but it's just a bit difficult for me at times. Grography is my best lesson rn and it's easier for me to grasp the concepts. I was just wondering if it would hinder my medicine application in the future if I don't take maths.

Chemistry as one subject in any case, mathematics should be second. According to the branch in which you intend to work, physics, IT or biology as third.

geography is fine unless you're applying to cambridge, take the subject you're most likely to get the higher grade in and that you will actually enjoy (i'm presuming in your situation that subject is geography and not maths)

That’s an easy one to answer. For medicine, you should do chem/bio plus whatever subject you are likely to get the highest grade in, so for you, geography.

You would also have an essay subject, which could be beneficial if you end up doing something other than medicine.
you definitely should do bio chem and i also know someone who did bio chem geo and shes doing medicine at imperial so its definitely a good combo

you just need bio and chem a levels + another a level. Maths does require A LOT more work in a levels (coming from smne who would revise maths daily for GCSEs) and it'll be hell if you're finding it difficult/disliking it rn.
If you ever want to check entry requirements or information about a uni course you should go to UCAS (a website) and search up the course, all the unis that do them + basic information on the course should come up. UCAS is also the website you use when applying for uni.
As others said bio chem geo is fine unless Cambridge
My friend takes this combo going for dentistry and they seem fine!
Take the one you're more likely to get the A/A* in

Hey @amboa !

Most universities will only ask for chemistry +/- biology and aren't too concerned about what your third subject is! My best advice is to do the one you enjoy the most and what you can get the best grades in!

I'm currently studying medicine so if you have any other questions please let me know!

Hey! This is something that is asked (and debated) quite a lot! It very much depends on the university and it can be useful as you can reflect on what you have learned but in terms of UCAS points, I would check with every individual university as many don't give you UCAS points for it!
