Cambridge Land Economy 2025 applicants

For the sake of anonymity my name's Bisi. Because of how niche the subject Land Economy is, I was wondering if this page could be used to offer any advice to potential offer holders as well as a space to simply vent and update others on how the process is going in and of itself. For context, at my 4 other universities I chose Financial Economics and Management, Economics and management (study abroad), then the last 2 both Economics and Finance. I've looked lightly at property law however a current Land Economy student informed me that because my PS is heavily Econ based, any law that is brought up during my interview I will be hand held through. Any past advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I am applying for land economy for 2025 entry. I made this post so we could discuss what colleges everyone applied to and how everyone is feeling for the application process. Feel free to comment your college or anything else related.

Probably no point worrying about super curriculars now as they are done and you've completed your PS and additional questionnaire.

In preparation for interview though, I would recommend getting up to speed with current affairs that are relevant to Land Economy e.g. climate change, sustainability, renewables, housing crisis, urban economics etc. Read the Economist and relevant sections of newspapers. They might or might not ask you questions directly about what you have read, but even if they don't, there could be occasions where you can use them as examples to back up your answers to other questions.

Do lots of mock interviews to practice talking out aloud and answering questions. Get a friend, relative, anyone to ask you questions about your PS and past questions from the internet. They don't need to know anything about Land Econ, as the key purpose is getting you to think on your feet and answer questions. If they can ask follow-up questions and challenge your answers, that is a bonus, not a necessity.

Hey I've applied for LE at Catz! I'm doing Advanced Higher Maths, Geography and Physics (I'm Scottish) I did Maths, English, Geography, Bio, Chem and Physics at Higher (AS Level equivalent I believe) plus I'm taking Higher French this year for fun! I've applied pure Econ everywhere else.

Thanks a lot for this. I have seen that a lot of the past interview qs rely quite heavily on current affairs so I am trying to keep on top of everything that is happening (hopefully i don't get asked anything on the US election lol)

You are welcome. Doubt they will ask you anything directly on US politics, but there could for example be an opportunity to talk about the potential impact of voting in a climate change denier on reaching new agreements at COP.
Hi, I am also applying to land economy. I do maths, physics and econ. Anyone got any interview invites yet?

No email yet, for anyone at my school. My school is making us prep though with mock interviews based on the subject we've applied for with teachers from other schools.
