Post graduate Jobs in Data Science in North West

I am currently studying for an MSc in Data Science and wanted to reach out to previous grads who have done a similar course and how they went about getting a job at the end of it? did the Masters dissertation with companies provide you with a guranteed job, did you have to go through graduate schemes with other companies? Im trying to get ahead of the curve with getting a job straight after graduating rather than being sat there not employed in the field i want to work in. Would be greatful if other ppl can share their experiences too.
