What's the best thing about Nottingham? I am nervous about leaving my family

Hello @Sitazehrajoshi!

I absolutely love it here. I have been here for 5 years and I will be starting a PhD in October (provided I graduate this summer!). I am in the Aerospace Engineering course, which is obviously rather unrelated to the Business School, but in general, the academics are usually available for providing additional support outside of lectures. Likewise, the different programs tend to mix different assessment styles to target a variety of core skills.

The main campus, University Park (UP) is located on the West side of the city (and is very large), and this is where the majority of students live. Other popular student areas are Lenton and Beeston, which are all in the vicinity of UP and Jubilee Campus (where the Business School is). I have to say that I have never felt unsafe in these areas and there is a dedicated security team to reinforce safety around the campus.

Another aspect worth noting are the transport links since Nottingham has a reliable tram network, and two main bus operators that offer multiple options to commute to campus or the city centre along the main roads. It takes no more than 20min to commute from the city centre to UP, so it is convenient overall.

I hope everything goes well and feel free to ask more questions!

All the best,
Abián.

Thank you so much. I have seen photos of how beautiful the campuses are 🙂 Do you know about societies?

Tariffs. Quotas. Trade wars.

The global economy is shifting and international businesses must adapt.

As the world reacts to new US tariffs and a resurgence in trade protectionism, the need for professionals who understand and can navigate these global changes has never been greater.

In a new blog, Dr Jinmin Wang Course Director of our MSc International Business programme - explores why now is the time to study international business at Nottingham University Business School.

· Ranked 16th in the world in the QS 2025 International Trade Rankings
· Learn to apply international trade theory to real-world challenges
· Core modules cover global trade policy, business economics, and strategic decision-making in uncertain markets
· Designed to prepare you for careers in multinationals, government bodies, international organisations and more

“Tariffs, quotas, and subsidies are not just concepts they’re tools used by governments to shape markets. Students leave with a deep understanding of how these levers impact firms, industries, and economies.”

Dr Luciana Nicollier, Business Economics module convenor
