Day in the Life of a Primary Education Student at BCU

Hi,

Today I am going to be sharing what a typical day in my life is like whilst studying primary education at BCU. This is a specific day from the SEND module of my second year. My routine can be a different some days, especially when I am on placement or on a day off.

7:00 Wake up, have breakfast, and get ready for the day. I normally have granola and yoghurt for breakfast.

7:50 Get the train to university. It normally takes me about 40 minutes to get to university including my walk to the train station, being on the train and walking from Five Ways to the City South campus.

8:30 Arrive at the City South campus and find my classroom. I usually get there early so have time to look through my notes and the PowerPoint for the lecture.

9:00 First lecture. This lecture was about sensory processing. It included a mixture of the lecturer talking about their experiences, watching videos, and having group discussions. The lecturer also bought in some examples of sensory toys.

11:00 Lunchtime. I usually eat lunch in the Social Kitchen which is one of the restaurants on campus. My favourite thing to get is a smoothie and some chips.

12:00 Second lecture. This lecture started with an assignment support session and then we discussed how to support children who have experienced trauma. Both of these sessions were really interactive and included lots of opportunities for discussions and questions.

14:00 Get the train back home. Sometimes I will stay on campus to use the computers or library before going home.

14:30 I have a snack and chill for a little bit.

15:30 I did my post session work and started to look at my assignment.

17:30 Around this time I normally have dinner. Some of my favourite dinners are fajitas, pizza and pasta.

19:00 A few times a week I will go to the gym with my friends, sometimes I will go on a walk on the other days if the weather is good.

20:30 I will have a shower and chat with my friends.

22:00 I usually go to bed and watch or read something before going to sleep.

That’s a typical day in my life as a primary education student, however I do not always strictly follow this routine.

Hi @Hanshe

Congratulations on getting an interview.

I actually quite enjoyed my interview and it made me feel really enthusiastic about the course! I had to answer some different questions about why I wanted to do the course, what experience I had and the role of teachers. I also had to do 2 tasks - one was a written answer to a couple of questions and the other was talking about how I would use an object to teach a lesson. I also had the opportunity to ask questions so make sure to have a think about if there is anything you want to know.

Hope that helps and good luck for your interview!
