is bristol uni film and tv BA worth it?

is the film and tv degree at bristol good? where else is good for more practical based filmmaking and would i need a film degree to break into filmmaking?

looking for film/media degrees currently bc i’m still not done picking all my courses and i have to submit my ucas soon :frown:

i want to go into arts or design or media or film for undergrad i just can’t pick bc i literally want to do everything 😭😭 otherwise i’ve got 4 graphic design courses for my other options…
for a practical based film production degree then your best starting point is CILECT member film schools.

If you're looking at graphic design but also interested in film then what about something along the lines of communication design? That's something that usually has more of a focus on producing things in a range of media (film, print, digital etc) that communicate messages or ideas.

I wouldn't personally recommend University of Bristol if you're looking for practical based filmmaking experience. I went to UoB hoping for that and I was really disappointed with the coursework, currently looking into transferring to a different uni/course altogether. To answer your question you don't need a degree in film to break in (nor any creative field) and employers likely aren't interested in whether or not you have one but in theory a good film course should help you develop skills and create a portfolio of work that will be attractive to employers. Hope this is helpful for you.
