Should I pick Chemistry?

I’ve decided to definitely maths and history for A-Levels and maybe Chemistry. I don’t really love Chemistry that much but I just want to know is it possible to get into any med/pharmacy/dentistry degree with just maths and chemistry or do you have to do maths chemistry and another science. I’m just thinking of doing chemistry in case I want to change career pathways in the future but if it can’t get me anywhere then no.

chemistry is one of the best a-level subjects to keep your options open. you can get into quite a few med schools with just maths and chemistry with no biology. i'd say maths, history and chemistry is a great combination.

but if taking biology is not a priority for you right now are you really going to enjoy a med/dentistry degree? they are very very biology heavy

Are you planning on definitely going onto STEM in the future?

Pharmacy or Pharmacology require Chemistry and another science/maths subject, and usually the 3rd subject is usually not specified as all they are interested in is the grade. Check the entry requirements for a range of different Unis carefully.

Examples
Pharmacy MPharm | University of Leicester
MPharm Pharmacy (2025 entry) | The University of Manchester
Pharmacology BSc | University of Leeds
Undergraduate | School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine | University of Bristol

No I just want to keep my options in case I change my mind
Chemistry is my favourite subject 100% recommend! It is also highly regarded by many stem courses including the ones you listed - surprisingly more than biology! But keep in mind that if you don't pick A level biology because you don't enjoy it, it is quite likely that you wouldn't particularly enjoy a degree in medicine or dentistry... this is entirely your decision though so I would suggest to pick subjects you enjoy!

If you wanna do healthcare, I’ll be honest - you need to take Chemistry and possibly Biology. Maths is really the only optional one. But if you don’t enjoy chem, either grind and try your best or consider a different degree

Chemistry is the best A levels you can pick for your current career plans, I would add it as subject.
