Advice on dropping a gcse?

I’m struggling to do dance gcse as there is so much work u need to put into it and I’m really bad at dancing and now we have to choreograph a piece which I know I will be bad at as i have struggled in many previous lessons with this and my mind just goes blank every time we have one of those lessons. We filmed the set phrases that we need to do and the teacher said I would have to re film it as I wasn’t good enough. I asked my year team leader if I could drop it but he said it would be unlikely and he would ask the teacher he said this cause in my mock I passed it although we only did the theory part and not the practical I got a 5 in theory.I already have an extra gcse in German that I did in yr 10 I’m now in year 11 and I don’t want to put lots of overtime into dance as I have already regretted taking it and I know I don’t want to do a career that’s dance related because I think I might want to get a job animal related e.g vet or something un animal related. If I would drop this gcse I plan to focus on my other subjects more that matter to me. As I want to get a better grade in science as I currently have a very low grade and I want to catch up in business as I had a really bad replacement teacher who wasted all my time and taught me nothing. I have said I few of these points to my year team but I really don’t know what to do if they don’t let me drop it.
Any good tips?
Also what are the benefits of having an extra gcse? As many have told me it will give me a higher overall average

This probably ain't the best advice you wanted to hear, but with GCSEs sometimes you gotta neglect the subjects that drag you down. In the long run, GCSEs are just stepping stones to advance into A-Levels/College (etc..) - NOT something that will completely alter your life unless you completely fail or are looking to get into some prestige sixth form.

My sister was similar to you, her art GCSE was dragging her down in science since her teacher was quite needy about the artworks or whatever. So she kind of just.. stopped caring for it. Obviously did the bare minimum, but nothing more. She ended up passing fine, getting the A levels she actually wanted then.

Since you're now in Year 11 quite near to the GCSEs, I really doubt your HOY actually wants to let you drop the subject. Unless you have loud parents that will press the school, I don't see much changing there.

Also, there's not many benefits of extra GCSEs unless you really wanna stand out, for whatever reason. In the school I went to the teachers would actually REFUSE to give some extra choices, seeing it as impractical. You'll still get mostly the same opportunities as everyone else, honestly. I've never heard anyone caring for overall averages at all.

Yh that’s true but with dance it feels like there is just soo much work to put in even if it is the bare minimum and I also do art so I have a lot of coursework in general and since I have an extra gcse already cause I passed it I wanted to drop dance then I would have normal amount of gcse. I see where ur coming from but I don’t want to even put the bare minimum effort in to just get a 4 I’m probs being lazy to be honest but what’s the point of wasting ur own time

As long as you have your main three and pass well with another, you should honestly be fine to fail dance at that point. In uni application they only look at the grades of like 4 or 5, but just if you passed or not. I know someone who got a U in languages cuz they hated it and she went to uni just fine. If you really hate dance, then who cares? Whatever is best for you matters, and this extra subject is just extra weight

Get your parents to request that you drop Dance. Have a plan as to how you will use the time. The school can't enter you for the GCSE without permission.

Vet science is competitive, GCSE grades are important.
