I'm stuck between 2 courses (Paramedic Science and Biomedical Sciences) pls help

it took me the whole of Year 12 (lower sixth form) to decide I wanted to study Paramedic Science after not knowing what to study. I was set on applying for that but today I did a practical in biology involving aseptic techniques and I really enjoyed the lab-work side of it. So it got me wondering if I would enjoy Biomed at University so now I'm a bit confused. Also my personal statement is meant to be done by the end of November so not sure how to finish that without knowing what course I'm applying for.

I did a first aid course with my sixth form and an access to medicine course with plymouth uni (which included another first aid course) but nothing specific to paramedic

Do you have any public-facing work/volunteering experience at all - restaurant/cafe, retail, charity shop, care home?
@queeri0s ,

Its always difficult choosing between 2 courses, so its totally normal to feel conflicted. I would ask yourself questions such as : 'What do I enjoy at school? 'What am I interested in?' 'What can I see myself doing in the future which I'll find fulfilling?'

I'd also encourage you to consider what kind of experience you want. Whilst there is a little bit of overlap, one of the major differences between paramedic science and biomed is the level of application - whilst paramedic is a very hands-on, service-focussed, practical degree (applied science), biomed has much more emphasis on theory, raw science, and research techniques (basic science) - and quite a bit of lab work. For example, as a paramedic you will be expected to face a lot of high-pressure situations helping patients, whereas in biomed the work is likely to be complex but not quite as fast paced.

Perhaps chat this through with someone you trust like your parents - they know you well, perhaps they can offer their opinion. However, its your choice and you are the best judge of what's best for you. Both are very respected, employable degrees and so I am confident whichever you choose will open up a lot of opportunities for you.

I hope this helps, good luck!
