It's likely that the extra 600 words you wrote won't be marked. So it is likely if these are key to making your argument in the essay
You may lose marks for writing beyond the capped +/-10% of the total word count.

Hi honey. Yes you will lose marks. Normally assignments are +_ 10% of the stated word requirements. If you were required to write 2500 then you could have 2300 words minimum or 2800 words maximum. Did you manage to reduce the word count?
