History at RHUL is fantastic. I got in with similar grades.. so dont worry about that.
I am a 3rd year now, but what first drew me here was the fact they have the UK's only university-based Holocaust Research Institute and world experts on the social, political and economic history of the Nazi period. Prof. Dan Stone is one of the leading authorities in this area (see: "The Holocaust: An Unfinished History", 2022) and you can be taught by him. Across the board there is particularly good supervision here on modern history and more niche/unconventional topics too if thats your thing, with optional first year modules teaching you about non-Western political leaders, the history of European political philosophy and conflict in Europe from 18th century to today, 2nd year modules teaching entirely about the modern history of genocide, the history of the atomic bomb, Cold war Europe, the partition of India, the history of modern China-USA relations, and the representations of modern warfare in video games, film and comic books etc. 3rd year changes all the time, but some include the history of 20th century Berlin, a history of terrorism, leisure and cultural activities in 20th century Britain (dancehalls, pubs, punk movement, drugs and 90's raves), history of the British Empire, history of the entire political career of Margaret Thatcher etc... As for the "Politics" half of your degree, I dropped that bit for pure History pretty early on, but dont let that discourage you.
Outside of this, we have Oxbridge-styled seminars and supervision with personal 1-1 support on Historical topics. Seminar groups are based entirely on primary sources and class sizes are rarely bigger than 10. Quite quickly every lecturer in the department will come to know you by name etc... It is a very friendly environment.
