Applying for 5 year course in S6

I sent my application through ucas almost a month ago and I still haven't heard anything back, so I am kind of anxious that I've doing something wrong? I applied for Glasgow, Strathclyde and St Andrews. The thing I'm nervous about is for Glasgow & Strathclyde I applied for the 5 year course (MSci) because my teacher said if I get through 4 years I can continue on to do a masters but if I don't want to I'd be able to graduate then. Are you just supposed to apply for honours and then after 4 years apply for masters or is what I did okay? For reference one of the courses is Theoretical Physics F340 at Glasgow Uni.

Hi, im also applying to the MScis for Strath, Glasgow. I'm just about to send my application out; I definitely think you're supposed to apply for MSCI now. I heard if you apply for BSc, you will have to pay for the last year or something like that, but I'm also incredibly uneducated on that, so take it with a grain of salt. Also looking for any info on this. 😓

Don't worry, I've ended up with unconditionals for all the MSCI courses from Glasgow & Strathclyde that I applied for so applying for the 5 year course is definitely fine! I was just stressing myself out because other people from my school had heard back way sooner that I had lol

I have 5 A's at Higher, 6 A's and a B at Nat 5. Although, I didn't do much extracurricular stuff so that made up for it I think 😄 Also, try not to stress too much if you don't hear back ASAP, I definitely got way too into my head lol, it was nearly a month until I heard back from any uni.

Hi both! Congrats on your offers @jrenfrew 🙂 So glad to see you've heard back! It's completely normal to feel stressed when waiting for your offers but until you hear otherwise you're still being considered. Universities are just dealing with a big number of applications and process things in different ways, so some offers can be made quicker or slower than others. We're still ahead of the UCAS deadline and there's plenty time to hear back.

In terms of the BSc vs MSci (or MPhys if you've applied for Physics) - at Strathclyde we'll let you switch between the two levels once you're here so there's an element of flexibility (as long as you're coping ok with the coursework). If you're undertaking an extra year as part of an integrated Masters course then this is covered as part of your SAAS funding. You'd pay for your Masters if you re-applied once completing your Bachelors - which isn't the case for the integrated MSci/Phys as you progress to Masters after your 4th year.

Let me know if you've any questions about the application process/Strathclyde in general! We'll be running offer holder sessions in the spring which give you another chance to come along and visit the campus if you've not done so already 🙂
