Hi @Mate1 ,

This sounds like a tricky situation so I understand why you are feeling frustrated about this.

Firstly, I would say that a good person to speak to about this would be your personal tutor/academic advisor if you have one of these. They are there to help you on your university journey and you should be able to schedule an appointment with them if you are feeling this way. You should tell them how you are feeling about your course and say that you are struggling in lectures an they might be able to help you out with this and explain anything that you need explaining, help you with any questions you have about assignments etc.

You could also talk to your tutors about this for the lectures and see if they can go over anything that you don't understand or help you out with any work that you are struggling with. They are there to help you so it is worth trying - you might as well email them and see what they say about it and if they can help you with anything.

Your university should have a careers/employability team of some kind so it might be worth trying to make an appointment with them and seeing if they can help you with any applications for spring weeks as they usually will help people out with this and they are usually quite helpful. I am sure there will be some that don't just accept oxbridge applicants so this is worth a try and the team will be used to doing things like this so will know what you need to say/do for the application.

If you are really struggling, you could also talk to the wellbeing team at your uni as they should be able to help you and talk to you about how you are feeling. I have always found them to be quite good and supportive so you could always try this too.

I hope some of this helps,

Lucy -SHU student ambassador.
