East Asian Studies at Uni - ASAP

Hi I am interested in studying this at uni and know of a number of places that do it along with international relations or just by itself. I am very interested in getting peoples opinions on this course and what you can do after with the degree as that is a concern to me. Places that I know do this include Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, Sheffield - however they may be so please let me know. Please talk to me about experiences if you've done this course. Thanks

Hi, I'm not in the course myself yet but I'm applying with a clear goal in mind to become a translator. However, I've seen alumnis of the courses I've looked at going strictly into politics/international relations, some entering large companies, some becoming translators, and others going on to become professors. If you haven't applied yet btw, I recommend looking at SOAS - it's got amazing placement in London and it offers super specialised courses. The campus is cool, some facilities are shared with other London unis, and it's super friendly and diverse (according to my friend who goes there)!!

I'd also recommend attending Open days in order to hear from academics and students in-person, attend taster sessions and see the campus. Alternatively, you can reach out to current students via Unibuddy: https://www.soas.ac.uk/study/chat-students-and-staff

All the best,
