dropped out of y13

idk how to feel guys i dropped out of year 13. last june mock i got BDU due to poor mental health but at the start of the year i managed to move my D in chemistry to a B by working hard all summer but i got U in history bc i didn’t revise germany so when i came back to y13 i found it difficult to the coursework as the majority of research was supposed to be done over summer but as i got a U i was focused on revising the mock content and when i started year 13 i had no clue about what to do etc so i fell extremely behind. this did severely impact my mental health so resulted me in missing the deadline for the coursework :frown: so i just dropped out. i am predicted an A in biology, A in history (as the mock got discarded but i still did well in the other mocks) and also a B in chemistry. any thoughts on my decision?

As someone who got DEE in their a levels this year (History, Politics and Religion) you did the right thing. I had poor mental health throughout my time at sixth form (family deaths and parents divorce etc) and I wish I had the opportunity to retake but I was declined. To do a levels you need to be in a pretty good mental state to dedicate all that time to your studies. Yes I still managed to get into uni but I wish I had taken a break and tried again, and who knows maybe I could have got better results! I’d take a year out, maybe get a stress free job so you earn some money/ save for uni if you want to go, then once you’re in a better mental state and try again. Otherwise if a levels aren’t for you then perhaps look at an apprenticeship or a decent job that you can level up in. Whatever you do in life, do it because it makes you happy, not what society expects you to do! 🫶

The University I’m at also is often undersubscribed and has low entry requirements but it is still great, especially for the Humanities and has fantastic mental health support! It is the University of Wales Trinity St David! It is also one of the cheapest uni in the UK. DM me if you’d like more info on it 🫶

Hope it all goes well for you! Tbh you could apply to UWTSD as your back up if they offer pharmacy! Actually you could always work for a pharmacy while you take your gap year to gain experience and to put on your personal statement! 🫶
