Is it possible to have an academic comeback and how?

I'm pretty sure my teachers are fed up with me. One of them had a talk with me today and said she's worried and doesn't think I will get the A/B I need in French for university. Things aren't great at home to the point where police and therapy have had to give support/intervention. And I feel like all my teachers think I'm stupid and everyone else is smarter. I got BCD in year 12 mocks and need AAA for uni. I do English Literature OCR (got a D), History AQA (got a B) and French (got a C) AQA. I'm just really struggling right now and I've tried everything but my grades haven't improved at all! I've done practice questions, looked at mark schemes, looked at videos, got teacher advice but nothing is working and I can't even finish the exams half of the time. I also just feel tired and sad all the time. With only months to go until a-levels, is it possible to improve and how? Please help me.

Hi 😊, I’m so sorry to hear of your struggles, and your teachers will want to help you, I’m sure! They will not be fed up with you!!! Is there any study time after school? Is there a local library you could go to work at? Is it possible for you to create a dedicated quiet study space where you can concentrate? If this is difficult at home, is there a friend you could go to who you could study with? If a friend is doing the same subjects, maybe you could talk through anything either of you are struggling to understand explaining things can help to ‘cement’ it in your own mind and if you both struggle in different areas, this could be beneficial to both of you. Maybe whilst you study you could play some soothing music it may help, although it may distract you, but it’s worth trying as it may calm you if you are feeling stressed. Every now and again, stop and get a drink/snack - have a break. You need to have a good balance of working/studying and doing things you enjoy. Maybe take some exercise and get those endorphins working! exercise is great for lifting your mood. Eat a good diet and make sure you get plenty of sleep. Try not to get too worked up about it a lot of courses/universities will accept re-sits, so, if you aren’t happy with your grades, you could re-sit some. There is no rush to go to university you don’t have to go straight from school and there are foundation courses available for those who don’t quite reach their grades. So, there are options, and I hope that knowing this will help to elevate your stress a little. Good luck 😊

You could definitely reach an AAA. Have you tried YouTube? I know Alan the history nerd is good for history and you can search up OCR videos for English and French. You should look on the exam website at exemplars since they have model answers, marks and examiner commentary. Handing in essays every week/few weeks to your teachers can also help you and it’ll make them see that you’re trying. If you have the app studocu it will help and knowunity/study smarter. For French you can get beelinguapp, it has French books with English translation at the bottom and you can apply for a free trial which will help you learn words and you can listen to an audio version. Also I’d advise audiobooks or listening to music which you can probably find on Spotify or YouTube. Or even tv shows. If you have a favourite book, you can try this in French. Maybe you could try an app called “drops”. Or online books in French with an English translation on google. I’d advise you to use google scholar for English or academia edu. I think it’ll be helpful for French, maybe you could search something up in French and you can read like research papers etc. Try to look for PDF’s which link to A level French on google too. Good luck, I hope you do well.

Have you ever got marks equivalent to AAA? You must have had a rough idea about what you were going to get. A previous post of yours shows you've chosen universities that are all popular. Where's the insurance? Leicester often gets underrated but it has excellent research in Modern Languages.
