What opportunities ate there for fashion?

Hello, I would like to pursue a career in the fashion field from marketing to designing and I was just wondering if there are any opportunities that I can participate in to build my CV preferably around London and Hertfordshire. I’m in year 12

Hi @F_.T

It's great that you want to start getting some experience.

Internships or volunteering would probably be the best way to get experience.

You can find internships on sites such as:
Fashion Internships & Jobs | Fashion Work Placements & Castings
FashionJobs United Kingdom - Jobs for fashion, luxury and beauty professionals
The Dots Professional networking
Intern Jobs in Fashion and Beauty | BoF Careers
LinkedIn

Also volunteering at fashion week, fashion events or in charity shops.

LVMH also do online courses that are great to add to your CV.

I hope this helps and good luck

Thank you
Two things you can do:

1) Try to get a job in a clothing store. You'll learn loads about the business side of fashion. Retail is brutal, but you'll learn loads.

2) If you want to pursue fashion design as a possible career - make your own clothes, or at least try to.

3) Any type of work experience in marketing/design is useful, so ask friends/family if they know anyone that works in that field.
Hello,
It is great to be building your CV now for a successful career in fashion. As you have not yet chosen between marketing or design, I suggest practicing both independently to build your confidence in whichever you prefer. You can start by creating a portfolio of some of your own designs as well as writing some of your own marketing reports based off of what you notice in the fashion industry. Perhaps a fashion week marketing report could be of interest. Doing projects in your own time gives you the opportunity to develop your skills as well as show future employers and uni administrators how proactive you are which is great for your CV.

We also offer an Insights course for year 12 and year 13 where you will have the chance to meet lecturers, work on fashion projects and receive some application assistance. Check out UAL Insights for the eligibility criteria.

Hello I’m not too sure if you would answer but I am not eligible for the insights criteria and I was just wondering if there are any other opportunities with UAL?
