Is Data Science a competitive course to get into? (For Undergraduate)

Hi,

I'm currently in yr 13 looking to apply for university by the end of November this year. My university choices are York, Bristol, Queen Mary, University of Bath, and UCL. I'm applying for data science, however I'm wondering if it's a competitive course to get into?

You've got some relatively competitive unis there. What predicted grades do you have? Do these meet the entry requirements of the course?

Hi! @user12578 !
I know you've not mentioned Brighton but, I'd thought I would pop in and tell you that UOB has just started a Data Science course!

The grade requirements are BBB-BCC!

I study computer science and have met the course leader for this course and he seems really passionate about it and is really excited to be able to teach data science!

Later in the course you get the opportunity to take the SAS programming certification exam which is highly sought after by employers. You also get the opportunity to do a paid placement year in-between your second and third year which the University is great at helping you find. I used them when finding placements and work experience last year and they were such a big help.

The computing school really focuses on teaching you how to work in industry as opposed to just theory with no application which is one of the main reasons I chose here. Brighton also ranked at number 11 nationally for ‘value added’ a score which compares students’ degree results with their entry qualifications to show how effectively they are taught.

I hope this helps!
