uni of nottingham/manchester firm choice for liberal arts?

im a 2025 applicant for liberal arts. ive got offers from all the unis i applied, but im not sure which one to put as firm choice on UCAS, because i truly loved them all ! [i know its a while before i need to make that decision, but its still on my mind].

birmingham is naturally going to be my insurance as it's the lowest grade requirements, but im stuck between nottingham and manchester for firm ! i also got offer from leeds, but not 100% sure as it was my least favourite version of the course. i want somewhere with a similar vibe to london, good teaching [also not too few contact hours/week] , good opportunities, good nightlife, etc - pretty standard stuff.

it would be really helpful if anyone could share their experiences/any stuff they know about nottingham or manchester !

thanks
ps. i should mention i visited all open days, and would be open to go back to the city/ies before exam season starts

Take your time to decide. Maybe go to offer holder days or visit the cities again. Both have a great nightlife but which one feels more your thing?
There is no rush to decide

You have MONTHS to decide this.
There is no advantage gained by making any choices about Firm and Insurance this early!

I'm just about to finish my 2nd year doing lib arts at manchester if you have any specific questions about UoM xx

Hi!! Not to hijack the thread but I’m also considering manchester for lib arts next year, really stuck between that and Durham. I’ve struggled to find much guidance so would really appreciate it if you could answer a couple questions!! What subjects are you studying? I was a little bit off on the open day by the whole ‘challenge led learning thing’, as I’m not really doing liberal arts to look at sustainability or ethics or anything, I’m just interested in multiple humanities/arts (chinese, film, other languages, maybe marketing etc), so didn’t love the core modules. How have you found that aspect of the course and is it a major part of it? And do you get help with choosing your modules/guidance on leading your subjects towards a final thematic dissertation? Thanks so much if you get a chance to respond! xx

not the person ur looking for lol, but i actually ended up firming Birmingham as annoyingly manchester only offers exchange study abroad, so you can basically only go to english speaking countries :frown:. i did go to manchester offer holder day and spoke with a student and she seemed to love it, but she said she was also annoyed by the fact there were no opportunities to go to a non-english speaking country. im kinda the same as you in the sense not particularly interested in sustainability, but as for the brum course its more just you do modules in diff subjects [im doing arts & sciences, so i only have 2 core modules, which is even better!]

hi! thanks so much this is super helpful too acc, i’m looking at insuring birmingham! i’ll definitely have to look into that as i’d assumed with languages you’d be guaranteed study abroad in a country speaking the language, but if not that’ll defo influence my choice 😭

yay im glad ! yeah its annoying it doesn’t say anywhere on the website , but even if you do like majority language modules u still cant - you can only if its ur actual major . I’ve been emailing with one of the course directors at brum and she confirmed u can go anywhere and u can actually also study a diff subject abroad (if u do enough modules in it). so basically i can study psychology in Spain !

Hi Amy,
I am on my year out and deciding whether or not I keep my deferred place at Warwick next year for liberal arts or whether i reapply for Manchester. I went to the open day again and think i prefer the course at Manchester because of the range of completely different module they have. Would you mind letting me know what you think about the course and whether it is this flexible? Thank you so much
