SQA Advanced Higher Choices - Oxford Medicine

I'm a Scottish student currently studying 5 Highers - Maths, English, Chemistry, Biology, and Business.

I achieved 7 A's in my National 5's (Maths, English, Chemistry, Biology, Business, Accounting, and History) and am predicted 5 A's at Higher.

I want to apply to Oxford Medicine next year and was curious as to what Advanced Higher combination would be best suited?

I want to do AH English + AH Chemistry and Biology but am unsure if that would disadvantage me as it is not a STEM subject.

Would doing AH Maths + AH Chemistry and Biology instead give me an edge over other applicants?

Oxford only requires 2 AHs at As, one being Chemistry and the other being one of Bio/Physics/Maths. You won’t receive an “edge” over other candidates for doing 3 AHs being Bio Chem Maths as this is standard protocol for most A-Level students. If you enjoy English more, take it and don’t worry too much as they won’t look at your third choice anyways

Why is it you think you will get into Oxford? Not belittling you just a genuine question, like how did you decide that?

I have family in London and when I visited for university open days I liked Oxfords the best. I visited UCL, ICL, Cambridge, Oxford, and Queen Mary.

Thanks, I haven't really considered English unis because of the cost, when you can just get them free here in Scotland.

Yeah I get that. I'm very fortunate to be able to afford the tuition for English universities. That being said, I'm still applying to a couple Scottish universities just in-case. I was thinking Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
