International students needs help picking a Uni for Music tech/production

Hi there,

I am currently 25 and living in the US and want to start studying in the UK next year. I want to study Music Technology/production or something along those lines. There are a lot of options and my immediate want was to go to London, but now I am open to other cities as well. I mainly want to join a uni that has good networking options within the music field because I know the degree itself is not gonna do much for me; I'm looking for the experiences and connections.
For reference I already have an Associates of Applied Science in Music and Sonic Arts so I am hoping I can transfer to the 2nd year of a BA os BS degree.

Any recommendations? Any general uni insight/student life info is appreciated even for an unrelated degree.

So far I've looked into the unis below and have read mixed reviews:

BIMM London or Brighton

University of West London

City University of London

University of Leeds

Queens University Belfast

University of Hertfordshire

I would recommend that you look at the following places

LIPA - (Liverpool)
Birmingham Conservatoire
Leeds Conservatoire
Waterbear (Brighton or Sheffield)

Thank you for replying! def looking at and liking LIPA!
I'm not sure I really understand the pros and cons of a conservatorie vs a normal university...
Waterbear seems so cool but apparently they don't accept international students which is a huge bummer...
Do you on general advise against London?
I don't advise against London per se, it's just that some of the best courses in the UK for music production are outside of London.

The advantages of a conservatoire/music college over and above a normal university is usually that conservatoires/music colleges are usually more practical, industry focused courses whereas a normal university will be more academic. However universities such as Salford & Huddersfield have industry focused practical courses so you may wish to add those to your shortlist.

The best place in Europe is the Surrey University Tonnmeister course, however their entry requirements are very specific (UK students have to have studies A level Physics, Music & Maths, similar to AP in those subjects) and you won't be able to transfer into 2nd year.
