History or drama

I am a student who can't decide between history and drama
My history teachers are insisting I take the chance course and so are my drama teachers and I am also very good in both these subjects
If I pick history all my subjects will be writing subjects but I still want to do history but I also want to do drama
By the way If I do drama I am doing acting and I am aware of the essay part which I am ok with doing but I still like studying history and I don't know which one to pick.
Do you know what topics you do for history and if these interest you?
I did gcse history and really enjoyed it but it’s very content heavy. My friends who did drama all found it extremely time consuming because you have to stay after school and sometimes come in on weekends for rehearsals (at my school at least). Happy to answer questions on history gcse if you’d like 🙂

Topics i did for history:

International relations- stuff on the relations between countries throughout the 1900s. We looked at the Vietnam war, Cuban missile crisis, the world wars, rise of dictators and peace agreements etc

USA 1920-40s - looked at the politics, economy, views and rights of the people, the culture, rising racism and anti-immigrant feeling etc

Migration- looked at migrant groups to Britain from 1000-2015 and looked at their experience, cause and impact

Impact of the empire- on Britain, nations in the empire, Scotland and Ireland. Stuff on culture, economy, politics etc again Which was very interesting and we also looked at the reception of the monarchy throughout the empire period

Spitalfields case study- looked at all the migrant groups coming there over 500 years which was very cool and also we got to visit

My tips for History would be to mindmap a lot to link ideas for arguments, practice questions under timed conditions, and make many many many flashcards to learn all the content.

One of my friends who did drama said that it was a lot of analysing and not as much actual acting as she thought it would be. She says you have to learn a lot of lines and do rehearsals every week after school because you have to do a play. You go on lots of trips to theatres and musicals. And apparently the exams and worse than the ones for English but a similar style of stuff.

Hope that helps 🙂
