help with uni choices!!

i need help picking what unis i should apply for!!

I'm currently a year 13 applying to psychology through ucas at the end of the month. Alevels are psych sociology and politics and predicted is ABC (did bad in summer mocks) i also do an epa, i was thinking of applying these unis: royal holloway, city, ucl, kings and queens before i got my predicted grades but im thinking kings and ucl are too aspirational. i am eligible for a contextual but im still not meeting the grades would they still make me an offer? i also can’t change my predicted cause i need to apply by the end of the month and my mocks are just 2 days before that, i could ask my sociology teacher to put me to an A but idk 🤷🏻*♀️

also if i change those 2 out what unis should replace it with cause idk any other good unis in london for psych.

i forgot to put my gcses but i got - a 6 in maths, both english, citizenship. 7-6 in science, 4 in frnech and history and D in btec business

Psychology is very competitive, especially for 'London and near London' Unis - with ABC you might get offers from ABB entry Unis, but honestly, forget anything above this - even for a contextual offer - the minute they see the C grade, Unis like KCL will probably loose interest.

Out-of-London are more likely to be forgiving - so look at

unfortunately my parents won’t let apply outside london. what if ucls contextual is A*AC?

Hi there,

It’s great that you’re putting so much thought into your applications! While UCL and King’s are aspirational with your current predicted grades, your contextual eligibility might still give you a chance, especially if you have a strong personal statement. That said, it’s always wise to have a balanced mix of aspirational and achievable options.

Having studied for my MSc at UCL and then moving to UEA (University of East Anglia) for my PhD, I can confidently say that UEA is an excellent choice for studying. Whist I do not study psychology, I work with several colleagues from the psychology department and the all mention that there are great opportunities for research involvement.

Norwich, where UEA is based, is also a fantastic place to live. It’s a vibrant, historic city with a much more affordable cost of living compared to London. The campus itself is beautiful and fosters a strong sense of community, with everything from green spaces to excellent facilities for study and leisure.

id probably drop ucl as the course is very scentific and theyre known to accept mostly 3a* students who have science subjects. i think the acceptance rate this year was under 10% 🥲
