If it's 2 minutes, why can't you walk or cycle? Or is that 2 minutes actually covering a reasonable distance? What about a season ticket?

[ dont know why you think you're entitled to travel for free, but you won't be able to get a refund. Seriously, I've never known any refund go through within 10 minutes; it's up to 5 days because you have to state why you need a refund, give the details of your journey, and it is investigated. They will pay refunds for delays and cancellation and that is easy for them to check with the train operators. See the Trainline T&Cs below, which state:

"Naturally, we won’t change, cancel, replace or refund if there is or if we reasonably suspect that there may have been fraudulent activity involved."

yeah fair enough, i asked the question because the commuters i meet on the train told me they refund if there’s no one to check, but yeah i’m going to start cycling instead
