University of Birmingham, student life

Hi everyone I’m thinking of having Birmingham university as my first choice for 2025, I’m unsure about student life and social fun as I didn’t see a student union when I was at an open day, please could anyone let me know if I will enjoy myself as I am very serious about this uni, thank you.

Located on Edgbaston campus, it hosts over 300 societies, events, and support services. Popular activities include ValeFest (Europe's largest student-run charity festival) and various sports, arts, and cultural clubs. Heyyy! As a current PGT student at the University of Birmingham, I can assure you that student life here is fantastic. You might have missed it on the open day, but the Guild of Students (our student union) is at the centre of all things social and extracurricular on campus.

There are over 300 groups, societies, and associations for you to join, covering everything from sports, arts, and cultural groups to career-focused societies and special interests. Trust me, they are so much lively and refreshing to be part of.

The most amazing aspect that i really love is meeting people with similar interests and sometimes try something completely new. Birmingham as a city is also vibrant and full of social and cultural opportunities, so you’ll never run out of things to do. 😊
