Top Tips Uni Student Meals

As a student living away from home for the first time, having to constantly think about what to cook can be a struggle!
Here are a few top tips on making easy and affordable meals!

Smoothies for Breakfast
Before coming to uni, I never had a habit of eating a healthy breakfast! Recently, I started making smoothies with frozen berries, bananas and oats to sustain me till lunch time. My favourite thing about smoothies is how quick, easy and yummy they are! My all time favourite would be peanut butter, fresh bananas, yoghurt with some oats and cinnamon! What are some of your favourite fruits or smoothie combinations?

Meal Prep: One Pot Meals
Less cleaning = less stress  One pot meals like chicken stews, vegetable soups and pastas are simple and cosy to make, especially in the winter. In a single pot, throw in any leftover vegetables, along with canned beans/ legumes and a chicken leg to cook for about 30-40mins (on low heat with the lid on). Stews are one of my favourite things to make as they are easily customisable with whatever ingredients you have on hand + you can easily get on with other things while waiting for everything to simmer. It is also easy to portion out and freeze the stew so you can have it throughout the week!

Too Good to Go
One of the best food and money saving apps I discovered since starting uni! :tongue:Too Good to Go is a platform where you can purchase a surprise bag of surplus food from nearby bakeries and restaurants at a very discounted price. I once got a whole loaf of sourdough along with a bag of pastries only for £5.

I hope this helps a little in giving you some ideas on some simple meals you can prepare for the week ahead!
