Gcse art

So i take gcse art and i was wondering if you can use a picture that you didn't take yourself as a reference for your final piece, because we are always pressured to take our own pictures but i thought it would be ok because it is a picture that my grandmother took of my mother. And of course i have permission to use it for my final piece, but i dont know if it is okay to use it as i did not take it directly and the examiners might not like that.
Sounds to me like it'd be absolutely fine. You can either lie and say you took the picture (who's going to know?) or incorporate the generational thing into the meaning of it. Photographed by the generation before, painted by the generation after. Best of luck!
If your grandmother and mother don't mind that you take it for yourself, hand it over to the examiners and hope for the best of luck.
