Cambridge AMES 2025 applicants

hi i'm applying for french and arabic at sidney. does anyone know of anyone else applying for the middle eastern side of the course or how to prepare for interviews?

I couldn't find a thread, so I decided to make one! (mostly because I'm super anxious about interviews haha)
Which branch of AMES are you planning to study? At which college?

It is a really niche subject but im glad to see many people interested in the same thing!! Applied to Pembroke for Arabic and got an interview offer, but have no clue how to prepare😞😞

LITERALLY. i'm doing maths, chem bio, and sat my french a-level in yr12 so have literally forgotten a. how to write and b. how to write in french

That is an insane combo of subjects but I think that's so cool - and I'm sure it'll be fine because they can't expect you to be amazingly fluent and stuff. But it's also not alot of time to revise content and go over things because the interviews are in like 2 - 3 weeks😞😞.

yeah i was planning on doing med but have had a bit of a wobble ahaha. i have the mml admissions exam tomorrow as i'm french and arabic and am so scared! did they tell you when the interviews would be, they didn't give a date for mine yet??

Mines on the 9th December, and I saw other dates that started around the 5th and ended somewhere along the 16th. I hope your exam goes really well, good luck!!

awh how exciting well done! how are you planning on preparing- i haven't told my school about it so i really don't know how to 'revise' for it

thanks - congrats to you too! i’m honestly not too sure but i can share what i’ve done and that may help? i had a mock interview earlier this week with two teachers which went really well and i’m probably going to do a few more practices with other teachers, although you can always ask friends and help each other out ❣️ honestly the most useful thing to do is just go over your personal statement and know the key things you could bring up in discussion and delve deeper into. hope your interview goes well, best of luck!!
