Told to move to BTECs and refused - no school

Hi,
I am a year 12 student who was doing maths, biology and physics during my first few weeks at my new sixth form (I am an external student and my secondary does not have a sixth form). I did decent coming from an underperforming school with aps 4. Within combined science and maths I got 9-9,7. Due to a multitude of reasons and mainly slacking off and laziness I missed a large amount of hw assignments and had poor punctuality (19 lates) and attendance (90%), my school does something called 6 week review exams which were mini class tests to assess how we get along and I failed all of them due to a number of reasons. This led to a wake up call where I started revising and trying to improve myself. Unfortunately me and my parents were called in for a 6 week review meeting where I was told to move from my subjects to BTEC business and ICT. We refused and have been going back and forth. Our fourth meeting was today with the headteacher where he wasn’t budging or hearing me out. We brought up mental health issues and numerous plans and emails from me we sent explaining things and my commitment to improve yet they never budged. I want to do my subjects. Unsure on what to do, been in contact with many sixth forms and colleges in the area where they are at full capacity and cannot accept me.

So, just to recap, you didn't do a significant number of homework assignments, had poor punctuality, had poor attendance, and failed all of the six-week review tests - which let to the six-week review meeting.

How long ago was that? It can't have been terribly recent, as you say you and the school have "been going back and forth" and that your "fourth meeting was today". So, since the "wake up call where I started revising and trying to improve myself", have you managed to improve? Since then, how many pieces of homework have you missed? How has your punctuality been? And your attendance? Have there been any class tests since then? How have you done?

If you going to persuade your headteacher to give you a second chance you need to provide evidence that you have changed - not merely promise that you will.

Did you know about the six-week review exams before the year started, and the consequences (in terms of being moved to BTECs) if you failed? Or has all this come as a surprise?

The meeting was on 23/11 so 20 days ago, maybe about 2 weeks after we did these in class tests. After the "6-week" review exams there weren't any in class tests. However I began producing a large amount of independent work which I even showed to both my head of year and the deputy head.

At the start of the year we weren't explicitly told about what the six-week review exams were however they mentioned that they were exams to assess whether we should stay on the course or not. I'm adamant that whatever I might do or say right now is useless, I can share a transcript of what was said in these meetings, we begged to stay on and for a second chance but he didn't budge. I feel hopeless and haven't been in school since, he told us he won't "kick" me out but will keep my place on the btec pathway to honour my place at the school. I frankly will not do the btecs at all so am thinking of staying at home and figuring things out for this year. Which hurts to say because they took my subjects away from me, the ones I qualified to do after all the hard work I put in my GCSEs just because I did poor in an in class test within the first few weeks of AS
