Regarding my Student Finance

Hello everyone , My name is Alexandru and i'm a student in uk and today i want to ask you regarding my sitution , hope somebody will replay to me. This is my secound year at the University in London , study Business and Tourism with foundation and allso take Stundent Finance. My sitution is as fallows , because i have Pre Settled status in uk , must to work during my 4 years of University. This year has harder for me because i has allone in uk with nobady around me , no family no frends and because of that i slipped easy in kind of depresion and anxiety , because of that left my job and from april this year i did not work. Since June I had therapy from the family doctor, but it ended in September. Now i look to find a job again , and to keep moving, my problem is what happend with my Student Finance in this situation. I would be very grateful if someone could give me some advice. Kind regards

Hi Alexandru,

If you have applied as a Migrant Worker your maintenance funding would usually stop if you stop working. Do you have sick notes from the time you were unwell?

Hi Calum , Thanks for replay. I have a contract from the NHS from the Therapist before we start , where it is specified how many sessions I had and all of them and also summary of treatment when I finished the session , from NHS Hounslow Therapist.

Hi Alexandru,

We would need sick notes that show that you were still employed but not attending work due to illness. If you resigned from your job voluntarily you would need to send us evidence of this such as a P45 and we may need to amend the funding you have been awarded.

Hi Calum , what happens if I freeze next year and return to University in 2026 and now I'm going to get a job, I've already found a job and I'm going to start soon. It will be ok or I will still have problems with student finance for this unemployed period from 2024?

Hi Rumyboy22,

If you are an EU national with pre settled status you need to be employed throughout your studies to qualify for maintenance funding under the Migrant Worker route. If you gain settled status you no longer need to be employed or send employment evidence. if you were not working during 2024 and have not informed us of this you will need to as we may need to amend your funding.
