chat gpt plagiarism essay question

If I have written my entire essay already, but would like to paste it into chatgpt to check over it (with no intention of copying anything from chagpt, I just want to double check my essay reads the way I want it to), will it then be flagged as plagiarism from ai? because its on ai database now?
It shouldn't do

Hi there,

It might be. If you want to check your grammar - modern Microsoft Word is perfect for that. If you want you text to be better written - that's another story and it will become partially written by AI.
Do so only at your own risk. Plagiarism detectors simply flag portions of text they think is written by AI, and it would be hard to prove the opposite. Best way to prove the opposite - save all your drafts into separate files.

Take care,
Ilya
Microsoft has secure AI tools you can embed into word, if you have the right licensing, and there are proof reading add-ons. If in doubt check with your university.

Would your essay get cached publicly? I think probably not, but i am not certain and with the risk of academic misconduct being significantly more serious then the relatively modest amount of time you would save using chatGPT as a proof reading service it’s probably not worth it imo.

More importantly, university is about education & self improvement, you will develop more personally holding yourself to the highest standards regardless of grades for the eye for detail you hold to any report you put your name on in the future.
