LSE Waitlist.

After getting into the portal, I saw a message from LSE that a decision has been made for your first choice. that is waitlist. I didnt receive any email regarding this. What does it mean? Is there anyone who received offer at LSE? I applied in the political science msc (conflict studies and comparative politics)

According to the LSE website, if you have a second choice, your application will be passed on to that programme. If you receive an offer for your second choice, the selectors for your first-choice programme will be asked to make a final decision. Any offer for your first choice will take precedence, and it’s not possible to hold more than one offer. If you’re not successful for your second choice, your file will be returned to the selectors for your first choice, and a decision will be made within eight weeks. I'm not sure if they will send you emails about being waitlisted. Do you mind share when did you apply?

Has anybody already received an offer from LSE this year (2024)?

Do you think the possibility to give offer from wait list is less?

I don't think so, maybe they are just allowing you to be considered for your second option before making a decision, since if got an offer from your first option you wouldn't be considered for your second. Let's keep it positive!

I did not give any second option. I only gave one option.

Oh sorry! 🥲 But let's hope for the best! Maybe you get an offer later on.
I don't have a second option either. I'm very anxious about the decision so I understand a bit how u must b feeling.
From what I've heard, you might receive an email soon, and they should have a final decision within 8 weeks. If you don’t get the email in the next couple of days, it might be a good idea to contact the admissions office. I hope you get accepted!
Did you apply to other universities as well?

Yes, I have applied for Oxford and Cambridge as well and already received offer from SOAS and Essex.

I am a bit confused! It is too early to receive a response from LSE. Do you know anyone from previous years who received this decision of being in the wait list this early and later received an offer?

In the official post-grad tread here I read someone that was waitlisted too, but it was a reinstatement.

Nice! Great unis. I just applied for London unis and I'm still awaiting a decision from LSE and UCL.
My documents at LSE Applicant Portal changed status pretty quickly after I apply but I haven't heard back yet.

1. Candidates who meet the minimum admission requirements but may not have stood out sufficiently in the initial review process.
2. Applicants with strong academic backgrounds, but limited or no relevant work experience (for certain programs).
3. Those with lower GMAT/GRE scores or English language proficiency test scores (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL).
