Politics degree without doing the A level

I really want to apply for a degree in Politics or Politics and International Relations but I haven’t done the A level. I have done History, English Literature and Psychology. Will this affect me?

I don't think so! Many unis don't actually expect you to have taken the subject. It's like with law, they don't expect you have taken law a levels, just humanities ones. I'd say it depends on the universities though, but from what I've seen I think you're alright!

As long as you show your passion for politics in your personal statement! maybe try to relate your a level subjects to politics, just try to find a link somewhere. Politics is a huge part of history so that should be pretty easy xx

Perfectly okay - if you look at the entry requirements, you will see that you don't need an A level in Politics.

I would suggest that you do some relevant reading to get an idea of what academic study of Politics actually is - Recommended Reading | Politics and International Relations | The University of Sheffield

Ive just started my politics degree and your A-levels are fine! Across my uni, there aren't loads of people who've done A-Level politics as it's not offered at most schools. Most people did subjects like English and history but quite a lot also did STEM subjects x
