Do you know what your interests are? These uni topics are very different and thus lead to very different careers also. One is a general degree and the latter is a very specialised vocational career. What do you want out of these degrees?

Neither are "better" as they do/offer completely different things.

Hi @Rose_99

I hope you're doing well.

It is difficult to say which you would be 'better off' doing as they offer very different things. For example, psychology with economics is a lot broader so would have a wider variety of career options available. However, speech and language therapists are very sought after and in high demand, meaning that there are likely to be lots of vacancies, despite the fact that it is a narrower field.

My recommendation would be to seek out even just 1 day of SLT shadowing to see if this is something you could see yourself doing. You could also look at course taster days unis are hosting for different subjects to give you more of an idea about what the different options involve.

At the end of the day, both are likely to be very interesting courses so really consider what you could see yourself doing every day, and what career you would like to pursue at the end of the degree.

I hope this has been helpful! I am happy to answer any questions if you have them.

Hey @Rose_99,

I hope you're keeping well. 🙂

I'd say in my humble opinion, it honestly depends on where your interests lie. Do you enjoy the idea of understanding economic theories and human psychology to solve societal problems? Or are you more drawn to helping individuals improve their communication and making a direct impact on their lives?
Both paths can offer fulfilling careers, but the key is to consider what excites you most and aligns with your passion and skills.
I'd love to give you the correct answer, but this is more something that depends on your personal interests and long-term goals. It's really about what you'd be more passionate about and where you see yourself in the future!

Regardless, I'll be wishing you the best of luck with your decision!
I'll be rooting for you!

Kind regards,

David 🙂
