english lit extra/super curriculars

i am currently in year 13 studying English lit, psychology and photography a levels and applying to university for 2027 entry (an art foundation year and then a gap year) but wondering if anyone has any suggestions on extracurricular things I could do to boost my application? i want to study either english literature or liberal arts (focusing on english lit and theology) at university (not sure where yet - looking at Edinburgh and durham). i am predicted 3 A*s and my current experience consists of: attending talks given by literary figures, taking part in a spoken word festival competition, achieving a distinction ESB certificate, and a lot of super curricular reading (mainly classical fiction - any good non-fic recs??) and my personal statement is slightly lacking!! any advice?

You will need evidence of your academic interest in the subject - and in particular that you are studying/thinking/reading at a level above the A level syllabus. As well as reading Literature itself, you need to get to grips with some of the Literary theory and critical theory - start with something like An Introduction to Literature, Criticism and Theory: Amazon.co.uk: Bennett, Andrew, Royle, Nicholas: 9781032158846: Books and Critical Theory Today: A User-Friendly Guide: Amazon.co.uk: Tyson, Lois: 8601421976046: Books

Useful free Moocs that you do during gap-years etc -

And a good reading list : English Literature reading suggestions | English | The University of Sheffield
