Unsure of my Interview

Hello,
So I had my interview very recently at teeside to study optometry. I had worked myself up as it was my first interview and with myself being a mature student felt a little self conscious.
The interviewer was lovely, empathetic and was very good at trying to calm my nerves, however because I felt so nervous it took my a while to calm down and I felt I wasn't as articulate as I should of been and I was quite jumbled and stilted as my brain kept freezing and I couldn't think of the correct word to say, and I waffled a few times stupid I know! I was so disappointed in myself! The questions were relatively straight Forward, however Im confident I answered them not as well as I could of if I wasn't so nervous. The interviewer seemed to be ticking boxes and writing things that I had answered alot and I wasn't sure if this was a good thing or bad. I'm just wondering if anoyone could share there insights onto how you can guage if the interview went well?
All of this is a new terrifying journey for me!
Thank you
