Predicted grade and references as an independent candidate for UCAS

Hi! seeking advice from any previous or current independent candidates at a level

I’m currently studying a 4th a level during my gap year (a level biology) through an online provider who can provide me with a predicted grade for ucas following mocks

Hoowever, my old sixth form wants me to apply through their ucas portal as they will put in my references from last year (I’m reapplying) but I’m not sure if I can have both my references from last year and my predicted grade from essentially what is a different centre or how I would do this

Thank u!
Have you asked your old sixth form if they’ll accept the prediction from your online provider? They can then input it along with the reference.

I’ve just tried to do this and my college said they can only put a predicated grade if I was taking it through them. They told me that if I want to email the universities with a reference and predicted grade from my tutor I can, but there is no guarantee they’ll accept this 😬😬😬 The predicted grade is for biology which I am applying for at university, therefore i can imagine the predicted grade is pretty important. Do you have any other suggestions?

In that case there is not much else you can do, although the situation is not that unusual and many people retaking independently are in the same boat. The advice about seeing whether your choices will accept a prediction directly is good though.

Could you also ask your school/college to include a note in their reference stating they are unable to provide a prediction for that subject?

Section 1 of the reference includes:
"any policies or processes used for predicting grades (e.g. internal assessments). This is an opportunity to articulate any policy about not predicting grades for qualifications where the school or college feels the assessment method or qualification structure is not suited to predictions"
Ask them to make it clear there that you are studying your Biology with a private tutor who has provided a predicted grade which can be supplied on request.

Ideally I'd ask them to include a sentence like "Krumel21 is studying Biology A level with [online provider] who have informed us that they predict Krumel21 is likely to get a grade [GRADE]." - then they aren't claiming to predict the grade but they're including the information within your reference.
