Need help with Uni options

Hi guys, I’m just struggling to find my last few uni options, I am predicted AAB for my a levels (all humanities), I want to do law. I don’t know if it’s too risky for me to apply to AAA unis or RGS, I have 3 safe options (Uni of Reading, Keele and Uni of Plymouth)and then I have Cardiff as my top choice, I’m struggling to find my top second one. I’m just cautious and anxious about this whole process I want to submit as soon as I can! I like Sheffield but I’m not sure what it’s like I don’t have time for open days anymore, it does look like a nice town and I like their structure of course (anything bad there?). Also I’m a woman of colour and faith, are any of my options bad in like racism context or like any general criticism or recommendations I would appreciate it☺️

Hey @dhania_s

It's such an exciting time for you, and really great you're considering aiming high, always great to do so!

If you wanted to know a bit more about us here in Plymouth, you can chat to Ed our Law student rep here to get a bit more info about the course first hand 😊

I'm not sure how much you've looked into the University of Plymouth, but we are a very diverse campus, and have a lot of societies for all faiths, backgrounds and interests! You can check those out here.

As with all things, checking out unis at Open and Offer Holder Days is great to get a feel for the vibe of the campus and city. You have to choose the uni that feels right for you, as at the end of the day, you'll likely be there for three years or more - you want to enjoy it!

Sending best wishes for finding the right uni for you!
If you have any other questions feel free to ask 😄

Have you considered Liverpool? the entry requirements are AAA, obviously I cannot say for sure but I have heard they are often quite flexible with them though. So if the rest of your applications strong you could stand a chance. Good luck!

Hi dhania_s,
It's great to hear that you like Sheffield! I have been in Sheffield for a few years now, having done my bachelor's in Biochemistry here and now a masters in Cancer Biology. I thought as you don't have enough time to attend an open day, I would share some of my experiences to give you a better idea of Sheffield!

Sheffield is a really friendly city, with lots to do such as cafes/restaurants etc. but also many green spaces to relax in. Some of my favourites are Weston Park (right next to campus) and Endcliffe Park (right next to Endcliffe Student Village). I especially like going hiking in the Peak District as a break from studying. Also, as part of the Student's Union, there are 100s of different societies and sports clubs to get involved in. Personally, I am not that sporty, but I do love craft soc and art soc

I think my favourite thing about Sheffield is that it really does have a sense of community, and you will often see people you know when you are walking about. This sense of community continues on to campus, which has a relaxed feel to it. I cannot recommend Sheffield enough! I hope this helped a little bit, and please let me know if I can answer any more questions for you.
Sofia (MSc Cancer Biology and Therapeutics Student)
