KCLMS admissions

To anybody at KCLMS right now, what was your “mathematical background” when you took the exam?

I’m already at a high achieving grammar school, and my math is quite strong- but I’m not sure how good I have to be!

And with that being said- does going to a good school already reduce my chances of getting in past the interview stage? According to the admissions info online, a decision is made based on how big a change KCLMS can make for the student.

i don't think they'll judge you too harshly on you as a person or your extracurricular maths background since we are just year 11 so nobdy has really done much (but if you did well on the imc, any olympiads or bebras and oucc you should probably mention that in the interviews). i'd suggest to just do your best on the entrance exam since that's the most difficult and important part. i don't think going to a good school impacts you though. best of luck for the test this weekend!

Official report states that if your school has high GCSE results you get negative widening participation score so they take away up to 20% of your test score depending on school.
